You can use almost any type of pot or pan on an infrared hob – that’s one of its major advantages over, for example, induction hobs.

With an induction hob, it is important that your pots and pans are magnetically conductive. This means: stainless steel, cast iron, enamel cookware with an iron core, and pots with a ferromagnetic base. The following are not suitable for induction: pure aluminium, pure copper, non-stick or ceramic cookware, and non-magnetic stainless steel.

This is due to the temperature control. The hotplate heats up, reaches the set temperature and then switches off briefly to prevent overheating. It then switches back on to maintain the temperature. This behaviour is completely normal and is designed to save energy and ensure safety.

This is probably because the overheating protection has been triggered. Unplug the hotplate, leave it to cool down for a few minutes, plug it back in and continue cooking. Also make sure that the ventilation area is not blocked.

Yes, this is normal. It is important to let the appliance run empty at the highest temperature for about 15 minutes before using it for the first time, to burn off any manufacturing residues such as dust and oil. During this process, there may be some light smoke and odour, which is normal and harmless.

Always unplug the appliance from the mains and allow it to cool down before cleaning it. Wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth and then dry them thoroughly. For stubborn stains, use a little washing-up liquid and a soft sponge. Under no circumstances should you use scouring pads, abrasive cleaners or steel wool to clean the appliance!
